Get Fresh Produce Here! - Citrus Punch Designs

05.27.2008No Comments » in fp stores | by: fpHoneyB

Tony and Wilma Burton opened the doors Citrus Punch Designs for the first time April 30, 2007. Tony who is an Interior Designer, and Wilma an Emmy winner television producer/writer who decided to leave behind their positions in the corporate world, went and opened a boutique dedicated to women in search of comfortable long-lasting clothes they can wear in their everyday colorful lives.

At first their families thought they were going to sell vegetables: “Fresh Produce? You mean vegetables?” “No! We meant a colorful comfortable clothing line named Fresh Produce!

The name Citrus Punch came from the couple’s love and pride of Riverside, and is in honor of the Citrus Industry that originated in Riverside, CA (it was not Florida, like most people think!)

Citrus Punch Designs is a very colorful place in oranges and yellow tones, “it does feel fresh,” customers say from the moment they walk in. The wall colors give that fresh feeling of nature, and the décor with citrus including limes, lemons and oranges emphasizes that feeling along with the smell of citrus.

Outside the store they display a giant orange welcoming visitors to Riverside. It looks heavy, but in fact is very light in fiber glass allowing us to roll it in and out everyday. So they created a slogan:

“When the Big Orange is Out We Are IN!”

Bringing Fresh Produce to the city of Riverside was very exciting news for those Fresh Produce customers who needed to travel more than an hour to get to the nearest boutique carrying the brand. Now with Fresh Produce in town there is a sense of pride among those customers who appreciate having their own fresh produce boutique in the heart of downtown Riverside. In less than a year the boutique has become an inland destination for all women seeking the line.

Citrus Punch is a Fresh Produce dealer with about 85% of its inventory dedicated to this line (They have been told they have one of the largest selections in the area.) Citrus Punch has become a favorite boutique for many in town, in part, blame their customer service. You will always be welcomed with a smile and provided with the assistance you deserve, for those who rather be on their own, they give customers their space and privacy.

This year the City of Riverside asked Citrus Punch to dress all the candidates for the Miss Riverside Pageant in Fresh Produce. The candidates were very excited about the line great style, colors and amazing selection to choose from. The event was great exposure for the shop and a wonderful experience for us and the candidates.

Tony and Wilma are public service oriented people who devote their time and efforts in making a difference in their community. Citrus Punch Designs has become a vehicle for the couple to help organizations and non-profit groups that serve those in need. Currently, Citrus Punch is raising funds for the new Riverside Humane Society Pet Adoption Center. Their most recent public service campaign: “Lemon Aid” for the Animals was very successful, giving bags of lemons for every donation.

FP Gilbert, AZ Grand Opening Quilt Auction

Kathe Horman - winner bidder in Fresh Produce quilt auction.

Kathie Horman was the winning bidder for the one of a kind FP quilt shown in our catalog. It was a very exciting auction full of constant bidding. One customer even called in every half hour to check bidding status, but Mrs. Horman prevailed!

Kathie Horman is a long time customer of Fresh Produce, having shopped in Nordstrom’s, our Sanibel store and now in Gilbert. She is an avid quilter and has donated many of her own creations to benefit various charity events through the years, so naturally our event really spoke to her. She purchased the quilt for her daughter (her granddaughters are pictured here). And true to style, she is wearing FP head to toe!

Fresh Produce matched the winning bid. The proceeds were donated to the Jewell McFarland Lewis Fresh Start Women’s Resource Center in Phoenix, AZ.

Thank you to Kathie for her persistence in becoming the successful bidder of our beautiful FP quilt!

New FP Handpicked Store in Coconut Point!

Fresh Produce Handpicked Store Arrives in Coconut Point

Coastally-inspired Clothing Adds Color to the Local Scene

Fresh Produce aficionados in the greater Ft. Myers and Naples area now have a brand new spot to shop for Fresh Produce clothing. The 4000-square foot Fresh Produce Handpicked Coconut Point store opened on Friday, December 21st, just in time for the holiday shopping season, at the Coconut Point Shopping Center at 23161 Fashion Drive in Estero, Florida.

A Fresh Look for Coconut Point

The new Handpicked store comes to Coconut Point courtesy of Scott Brogan, a longtime Florida resident who began his retail career 17 year ago selling the Fresh Produce line out of a small space in Boca Grande. Now, almost two decades later, he owns five Fresh Produce Handpicked stores across Florida, including locations in Boca Grande, Sarasota, Sanibel, Orlando, and now, Coconut Point. And while Coconut Point may seem like a large leap from Brogan’s first store, an 800-square foot space in Sarasota’s St. Armand’s Circle, Brogan looks forward to adding more store locations in the future. He explains: “We have found a winning combination – our Florida stores are located in vacation climates that are fun, vibrant and casual, just like our clothing. Customers are attracted to our bright colors, relaxed styles, and lively store environments. Vacationers really relate to us, and our regular customers return again and again due our cheerful staff and friendly service style. What is not to like?”

The store will bring classic Fresh Produce style to Coconut Point with clothing that offers current styling, flattering cuts, inspired designs and bold color. The store’s apparel for women includes active wear including tees, tanks and shirts, skirts, pants, jackets, dresses, loungewear and swimwear. Additionally, the store will carry Fresh Produce clothing for kids and toddlers, as well as Extra Fresh, the company’s successful women’s plus-size line. Handpicked for Coconut Point

The Fresh Produce Handpicked program is a business partnership that was launched in 2003 to enable select, long-time Fresh Produce dealers and seasoned retailers in significant markets to build their independent business around the Fresh Produce brand. Fresh Produce Handpicked stores possess many attributes of company-owned Fresh Produce Retail stores, while allowing the proprietors to maintain and reflect the unique personality of their marketplace. Since 2003, 12 Fresh produce Handpicked locations have been launched nationwide.

Brogan says there is nothing more enjoyable than seeing new customers discover Fresh Produce. “From my very first day working with Fresh Produce, I realized that they had a very devoted customer base. I am excited to be able to introduce even more people to Fresh Produce with the Coconut Point store.” For Brogan, his newest store is just the next step in a relationship that is as bright and colorful as ever. “I have a lot of confidence in the Fresh Produce brand and the company. We’ve only scratched the surface.”

The Story Behind the FP Store…

11.12.20071 Comment » in design, employee profiles, fp stores | by: fresh-E

Hello there and Happy Monday!

Last week, I introduced you all to Teresa, who is one of the talented individuals behind our new stores and their design. In her employee profile, she didn’t feel like she gave us the full story behind where she finds her inspiration…so much so, that she gave me the full story behind how the new Fresh Produce stores are evolving.

Check it out! Pretty cool stuff…

Where do you find your inspiration?  for props - the ideas come from all kinds of crazy places.

For our stores - well it is a pretty neat story…A team of us, Thom and MaryEllen Vernon - the owners of Fresh Produce, David Murphy, our Director of Retail at the time, Sarah Seifert , Merchandising Manager and myself, Visual Merchandising Manager went on a trip to some of our stores in Atlanta and Florida. We looked at what we liked and wanted to carry over from our existing stores. We met over the next few months and also brought in Scott Brogan and Cem Basturk as well (from our Brogan owned stores in Florida) and talked about what the FP lifestyle meant to all of us and how it made us feel.

We kept coming back to Thom and MaryEllen’s home in Santa Barbara and the different elements in it that really spoke to the FP way of life. We gave this information to an architect at Catamount Designs and he designed several different scenarios for us with different options and interpretations to bring that same look into our retail stores. From this we chose the wall treatments and cash wrap design to reflect a coastal cottage look. It consisted of a board and batten look and a cash wrap with hutch style cabinetry and glass doors. Then we added weathered floor fixtures, hardwood floors, coastal prop elements, transom windows, weathered hutches and furniture pieces, seagrass chairs, chandeliers, eclectic light fixtures, wrought iron elements and special accessories that added a personal touch. We also added a “History Wall” for our customers that tells the story of Fresh Produce.

Our first store with the new design was our store at the Borgata in Scottsdale, AZ. It was a great experience, and in each store we challenge ourselves to make it more fun than the last. In each store we alway bring a message of color, fun creativity and what the spirit of Fresh Produce is all about. We also try to bring in a little bit of individuality of the local area to make it feel like home….

If you haven’t been to an FP Store in awhile, get to one and check it out.

Live life, enjoy color…fresh-E
